Question:
Has anyone who had this surgery ever had a breast reduction prior?

I'm wondering if my breasts will completely disappear after I have my bypass since I had a reduction(which I badly needed!) several years ago? I'd love to hear from anyone who's had any experience with this. I know in the past my breasts and my face always seemed to lose disproportionately to the rest of me when I've been seriously dieting. Thoughts?    — [Anonymous] (posted on May 20, 1999)

They always recommend after any type of cosmetic breast surgery that you not gain, or loose, more than 10 lbs. In my case I had a reduction, gained over 100 lbs., and have now lost over 100 lbs. My breast size went from the C cup after surgery to a DD with the weight gain and now back to a D, but have not gone back to the original C. So, they have not disappeared, I do have a problem w/ sagging though and am considering a "lift" but haven't looked into that option yet.

I had breast reduction surgery approximately 1 1/2 years before I had my open RNY. After my breast surgery, I was a B cup. I am now 5 months post op from my RNY and have lost 95 lbs and am still a B cup, just a little smaller. I don't have any sagging yet, but will have to wait until I get to my goal weight to make a decision on whether I need a breast lift or not.

I had my surgery in 1997. I lost 97 lbs and went from a size D cup to a size B cup. I didn't actually mind this since I lost weight everywhere...and not just breast size. I would have my surgery again in a second!

I had a breast redution in August,1991. I went from DD to C cup. I had WLS in August,1999. I have lost 75 pounds and I'm now B cup. I'm happy with this size, but I now have some sagging. Please feel free to ask me any questions about either surgery. Ronda

I had a breast reduction about 10 years ago. I have not had my wls yet. The reduction removed excess fat not breast tissue. I still have large breasts. I do not think my breasts will change much. The size they are now is from breast tissue not fat. I am postmenopausal and take ert.

I had a breast reduction 2 1/2 years ago and wondered the same thing...(Will I loose breast tissue with WLS) I went fom a DDD/H (have you heard such a thing?) to a perfect C cup. Even with a 25 pound weight gain. I'm hoping that I won't loose much more breast tissue after the surgery (WLS)

I had a breast reduction 7 years ago (smartest thing I ever did before my WLS)which took me from a K cup (yes that's right) to a D. I had my WLS in 11/02 and have so far lost 94 pounds and have actually noticed that the girls look a little bigger. I'm a full C cup but can now wear more flattering bras (the push-up kind). The loss of even more breast tissue with WLS was a big concern for me prior to my surgery but my doctor told me that most of his patients report that they change very little. What they notice is the loss of 'back fat' and a smaller circumference rather than loss of actual breast tissue. Hope this helps.
