Question:
Looking for smaller framed short people personal stories with start weight around 220

I will be three months post -op on Jan. 18, 2006. I started out at 217 lbs and my ideal weight according to the calculator is 122. However my Dr says if I lose 50% of my excess weight I am considered a success. I have lost 33 lbs so far. (Jan 9, 2006.) I am looking for some short, small framed patients that have reached the end of their weight loss. I am 5' 1" and would be pleased to get to at least 140 lbs. I am doing well on my diet and exercise, but I am reading a lot on this sight about a lot more of us losing more that 33 lbs at nearly 3 mons. Anybody out there that can share their story with or around my size? Thank you so much, Carol S    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on January 9, 2006)

Carol I am 4' 11'' and weighed in at about 217 on December 27th the day of my surgery. I am only two weeks out but have lost about 13 lbs, which seems slow to me. I can however feel the difference in the way I feel and will be happy with whatever the result.

Hi! I had lap rny on January 10, 2005. I started at 261 pounds, and currently weigh 148 pounds. I would like to lose another 25 pounds. I am 5 feet tall. My surgeon told me that tall people have a higher metabolism and lose weight faster.

Carol, I am 4 yrs. post- op I was 5'5 and 375 the day of surgery. I have lost a total of 215lbs. I am not a small framed person but I know alot of peope who are that have had the surgery. I am in a support group and I have a lot of family member that have had the surgery. It is of my opinion and observations that people who have have had the weightloss surgery and are smaller at the start point loose slower than people who were really big. My mom was only 250 when she started and it took her almost the whole 1st year to loose 100 lbs and me being almost 400lbs it only took me 5 mo. I think the smaller you are when you start the longer it takes to loose, But it will happen hon just be patient.... you will get there as long as you follow procedure.. Hope this helps.. Hi Carol, I'm 5'1" and weighed 239 lbs morning of surgery. I had my surgery on 2/21/05, 4 days before my 9 month anniversary I made my surgeon's goal of 130 lbs, I'm almost 11 months post-op now, maintaining between 123-125 lbs. Everyone's body is different so don't compare yourself, but know that your tool is there for you and IMO getting to your goal is possible with hard work and a positive attitude. Good Luck! Dana 260/239/123.5/130 Check out my profile if you're interested in seeing the process, I'm still amazed.

I was banded with the Inamed lapband 1-7-06 and was 176 the day of banding. I am 5-2 and all my weight is carried in my mid section. I was not heavy enough in US so I went to Mexico, and had a great experiance. I will write again next week and tell my progress.

I am 5'1" and started surgery at 344 lb!!!! I am a year out, and I now weigh 185. I hope to get down to 110. I am not real small-framed, though.

I am 5'3" (barely), and started at 268. Currently, at 2-1/2+ years out, continue be 5'3" and range from 118-120 pounds. I was a slow loser, so it took me about 1-1/2 years to actually lose the full 149 pounds. I lost the first 100 in one year's time. I did the same thing everyone else did, but my body was just too attached to my weight and didn't want to give it us as quickly. No matter, I learned through the process and am now maintaining. We all get to the same finish line, some faster than others, but we all get there. Be patient. Good luck!
