Hi Evelyn, I had my surgery on 11/7/05 and I have lost a total of 65 lbs. Don't be hard on yourself. Depending on your starting weight you may not loose as quickly as some but as I see it, a pound is a pound is a pound RIGHT? :) You have done great. One thing I have done to restart my weight loss is exercise. I'm sure you have done that so just keep at it and enjoy the ride.

Hi Evelyn Sounds like you need to go back to the basics. Watch how much you are eating no snacking, drink plenty of water an exercise each day at least 30 min. I am down 135 pounds since 08-01-06 and have 15 pounds to goal weight. Also you may be loosing inches as I did that for a couple of months, only loss inches an not pounds. The last few pounds we have to loose are the hardest to come off, we have to kick it up a notch. Hope this helps. Cat

YOu didn't say what your eating/water/supplement plan is. Maybe if we can see what you take in and what you avoid, we can help pin-point any problem area? You also didn't say how much you had to lose, so if only 100# (ha ha ha--ONLY), you've lost 80%!

Hi Evelyn. I had surgery on february 14, 2006 and lost a total of 80 pounds. Since July though I only lost 5 pounds. I believe it is because I started to take Depo shot and that usually put on pounds. I have become frustrated because I need to lose more weight but it coming off slowly. If u are taking a birth control that may be the answer.

Well, it depends on the person and their metabolism. I went to your profile and figured that you are around 168 or so now? It *could* be that you are doing something to stall, i.e. snacking, eating the wrong things, etc. However, it also could be because your body just doesn't want to shift very quickly. I started out considerably heavier than you (325) and it took me between 8-9 months to lose 100 lbs. I was a slow loser and although I haven't reached my personal wish/goal, I continue to lose a little here and there after 2.5 years. I can gain though if I dont watch it, but it's not as hard to watch it now post-surgery than before. Considering I had 175 to lose to get to my goal of 150 (that I modified to 160ish and still am short of being 183), you are probably what I would consider neck and neck with me. Although I didn't stall for 4 months, I did lose very slowly (sometimes only 2 lbs a month) for long periods of time. Then all the sudden, I'd lose 10 lbs in a month. I have PCOS and attribute much of the trouble I had losing to the metabolic disorder because with what I was eating I shouldn't have stalled. I've done very well with not snacking, so I know that wasn't it. So more than anything, I just want to let you know that it's not necessarily over for you. Sometimes your body just needs a break from the weight loss to jump start again. If you apply yourself even a little bit more, you will likely see the scale move down again, and perhaps in a big way. It just takes perserverance. I know we all see this as easy weight loss - and it is for awhile, but some of us have to give a little more effort than others. And I don't know if it's got any substance to it, but I have a theory that those who dieted a lot in the past tend to have more problems post-surgery. I think it has to do with what the body has grown used to us doing to it, so it learns to adapt in order to conserve the fat. Like I said though - it's a theory only, but seems to be a common thread I've been finding. Good luck to you - I hope you get your second wind of loss soon! Dina

How long total have you been post surgery? I lost less than 10 pound a month on average. Sometimes I do not lose at all. You just stick to the diet and exercise, and you will be fine. Make sure to get your water, protein, and vitamins in!

I want to know how in the world Cathy C has lost 135 lbs since the first of August surgery date. My surgery was 7/11/06 and I have only lost 59 lbs. Am I doing something wrong?
