Calm down and dont worry, lol. When I went for my 2 week checkup I told my doc, everyone says they have to remind themselves to eat, but I get hungry. He said some people do get hungry. But Im sure you cant eat as much as you did before and you are eating different foods than you did before. I was what they refer to as a light weight and I lost 91lbs. I am always at or below my goal. Just remember we have to change the foods we eat as well as how much we eat. And dont worry if you have a treat now and then, no one said we would never be able to have our favorite foods again. The only food I absolutely must stay away from is cereal with milk on it. Makes me dump bad everytime. Good luck, but you will do fine!

I too was somewhat hungry in the early weeks after WLS, and it took a few weeks for it to subside. I'm at 3 months post RNY now and only get hungry if I need to eat. However, if I eat too many carbs (which wouldn't be an issue to you this early), it can cause cravings -- so I mostly eat healthier food. Don't worry, this should pass. Best success!

Consider the possibility that you are experiencing head hunger more than real hunger. I know that right after my gastric bypass my new pouch and remnant stomach growled and rumbled loudly. I knew from reading others experiences that this wasn't true hunger even though the sounds were like my old hunger signals. Imagine the shock your body just went thru. Your stomach has been sliced apart and stitched back into two sections; one tiny, one large. The large remnant stomach portion still has motility and produces acid to aid in the digestion of your food. These two functions generate the noises and feelings you may be experiencing. It is your body at work trying to heal what it perceives as damage. Too, your brain has been trained to eat copious amounts of food to satisfy many needs both emotional and physical. Right now it wants food to fuel healing and overall support of your body. The size of your new pouch will keep your portions in check but you still have to make good food selections to nourish your body to aid it in the healing process now and for weight loss in the future. Follow your doctor's eating plan carefully. Re-read the materials given to you on what and how much you should have. Consult here and read some more. There are plenty who are going thru the same thing or have been down this path. You are not alone in your struggles. It's hard at first but you have to make conscious effort to re-train your brain into accepting that 1-2 oz right now is all you truly need. Measure, weigh and record your food intake so should your problem continue, you have the history of what you're eating to show to your surgeon and/or nutritionist. Try to limit carbs as much as possible as they are known hunger triggers. Focus on getting in as much protein as possible and when allowed per your eating plan, try only one new food at a time to see what you can tolerate. You can do this. You will be successful and you will lose weight. I promise it will get easier in time as this new lifestyle will become routine with consistent practice. HUGS-Pat

I too am still HUNGRY after surgery.. I never feel full.. I think if I wasnted to I could really eat a lot more of food then the rrecommended amout.. but I know most of this is head hunger.. I want FOOD.. just like I wanted food before surgery. so you are not alone. I was told that the nerve endings were cut when they do the surgery and it takes time for them to heal. Until they heal you will not get that full feeling.. it can take 4 months or more for the nerves to start finally sending the full messages to the brain.. but remember they only send them after 20 minutes anyway.. so you have to eat slow and give the brain time to send the messages.. until you start to feel the full feelings remember to carefully measure you food.. eat exactly the amount the nut told you to eat and no more.. if you eat more you can stretch the pouch. so make sure you measure every thing.. as far as being hungry between meals most people have a high protein snack.. remember portion size there too.. STAY busy.. that really helps with head hunger. I sit down to watch tv at night and I want to eat.. I make me some hot herbal tea and sip it and that helps.. stay out of the kitchen when it is not time for a meal. it is a big trigger that you need to eat something just walking in there. stay away from carbs.. eat very very little carbs.. they do make you hungry and crave for more.. carbs are a real no no.. also no caffiene.. it also will add hunger.. Use will power at this point to do exactly what they tell you to do.. take all the bad foods out of the house too.. make your self follow this until you finally get past the hunger.. you said you were commited to this when you had the surgery.. so uses that commitment.. you can do this.. YOU CAN DO THIS... get on here and get the encouragement you need. start a scrap book and uses pictures of your self from before surgery.. they help me stay on track to look at what I was at my highest weight.. also look at the before and after pictures.. they are a great inspiration.. if they can do ti so can you.. if I can do this then so can you.. dont let the old head hunger take away this opportunity from you.. if you have to then seek counceling for the head hunger.. there is nothing wrong with that.. many people on here do.. you have to get the old ways of eating out of your head. Good luck to you.. stay with it.. dont give up. plese try as hard as you can to stick with it.. I promise you it will get easier.. especially as you see the nubers go down on the scale and the sizes drop .. that is the best encouragement out there... it will happen...
