Yes, I do it all the time. I mix my UNJURY Strawberry Sorbet dry powder protein mix with Worldwide Protein Shakes in cans, of course, strawberry cream flavor. Actually I mix them in a gallon pitcher with fresh cut up strawberries and then pour it into plastic bottles and put in frig to get cold and drink on them all day. I use 6 scoops of UNJURY and 1 each 20 oz bottle water and 3 cans 11 oz each of protein shake with the fresh fruit. ITS YUMMY!!!! I do this everyday. It not only satisfies my protein intake but also alot of my water intake (remember 64 oz daily) a must to lose weight. Good luck and enjoy your homemade shake mixture.

If I were you, I would ask your NUT about this, I heard that you can only absorb only so much protein at one time. I do not know for sure if this is true, but I sure would not want to waste it if it isn't going to be absorbed.

This questions has been asked before and I've read that there are no definitive studies on how much protein we can absorb at one time. However, it stands to reason that you're better off fueling yourself in increments throughout the day rather than all at once. The same as with food. You don't eat just once a day or drink just once a day to get in all that you need. The body works more efficiently if you feed at regular intervals every few hours. This keeps your metabolism up which is why a lot of folks eat 5-6 mini meals throughout the day rather than 3 squares.

Hi! I don't see why you couldn't mix proteins and other drinks etc together. However, tho it isn't posted any where I could find online, My clinic and a few others around central upstate NY have maintained that our bodies do only absorb 30 grams of protein an hour or so... Why not spread it out thru out the day so the body has a constant supply being put it for it to utilize? I had a shake int he am and another in the pm when I was about a month out or so. Got the rest from my foods. I like the EAS drinks and they have about 17 grams. They are 11 ounces, so have one in the morning and one in the evening and try something different during the day. Hope this helps, Best of luck Hugs, Kim

There really isn't much info to be found on how much protein we can absorb at once...My Registered Dietician says we only get about 30 g's per meal. So.. let's look at it in a logical way...First, Protein drinks are supplements and meant only to use as that. Meat protein is approx 6-7 protein grams per ounce..So if you eat 4 ounces of meat @ 7 grams of protein you are getting 28 grams of protein...Anything you eat in addition to those 4 ounces is CALORIES! Same as using protein supplements... What reason would you put your body thru trying to break down more protein than you would eat as a regular small person per meal...unless you were Mr Universe and building some iant muscles? It makes ZERO SENSE! Protein doesn't store in your body either...so if so experts are correct and we can only absorb 30 ish grams...by eating extra protein supps you are actually only getting EXPENSIVE extra calories. Just my humble opinion...

My nutritionist told me you could only absorb 30 grams per meal or setting, I use whey chocalate protein 1 scoop w/4 oz of super skim milk for a total of 30 grams twice daily and get the rest of protein from my meals. So 8oz milk daily counts toward my 64 oz liquid.

In my above response, I did state that I have my dry protein mix and supplement protein shakes throughout the day. Having a gallon of my mixture drink, I pour in 20 oz bottles and drink throughout day. I cannot eat meat so I have to get all my protein from anyway I can and working with my doc and nut, this works for me. Not only satisfying my protein and water requirement, I satisfy my hunger and use my shakes as mini-meals. Mix is 20 protein a scoop and shakes are 35 protein each and mixing this all together is a high count of protein. This combo helped me drop the weight so fast it was really unbelievable and scary to myself because it disappeared so fast. I also drink bottled water as well. Hope this clarifies my previous answer. Drink mixture all throughout the day and night.

Anita is correct in stating that why not eat real protein, but this Italian Mama can't tolerate most protein, that is why I have to supplement with protein shakes, I was ill for two days straight becuase I ate protein. I would love to know when I will be able to eat protein and not shakes for my protein intake, I am at goal and I am now suppose to have up to 80 grams of protein now. When I eat protein I get so ill, then I wind up losing weight and I can't afford to lose anymore weight, my NUT is having a fit with me. Good luck

Shelly, I had trouble with protein too...But worse with protein supps! LOL Talk about a problem! I could not tolerate whey at all! Or much meats either...My pouch so grumpy the first year...All I can say, is it gets better, easier and you do become more tolerant of meats...Keep trying a little here and there! We are all so different in what we like or don't and what our pouch likes and doesn't! Bottom line is to do whatever you can to get in the required protein...The only protein I could truly handle was Isopure clear protein for the first three months! I had to sip it slowly all day long just to get in my protein. My point is only that we don't need to get in mega amts of protein per meal! I hope eating protein will become easier for you soon! It took me a while before I could really enjoy meat again without some kind of grumpy response to it...Probably 3-4 years...Yeah, It was a while! But I so enjoy eating again and my pouch does too!
