Hi Darla. On this site, there is a section called "find a doc" (at the top of any page). Here is the page for the State of Washington Surgeons http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/showdocs.phtml?State=WA Here you will find a listing of surgeons. There are many listed. If you click on the "view" next to each of their names you will find an information page for that doctor. Scroll down and you will come to a listing of insurances that members have used with these surgeons. There are a few that list SSI, medicare, medicaid, state coupon, etc... I am not familiar with the geography of your state, but want you to realize that you may have to travel to have this covered. One doctor in particular, seemed to accept this type of payment more than others. He is in Seattle and his name is Dr. Thirlby. Check him out and the others with this insurance listing. BTW, if you click on the insurance name (in blue), you will be linked to that members' profile and you can check on their progress and see how they are doing. Also, you could e-mail them questions about getting this surgery covered with this particular insurance or questions about the surgeon. I hope this helps you. Good luck! Shelley

Hi, I think it's very sad how these insurances are. Anyways I live in New Jersey. I'm on SSI and a form of medicad (Mercy Horizon) and I had no problems in getting approved. I hope your mom get the help she needs.
