Hi Sandy, I'm sorry you're having these challenges after your Lap-Band placement. I'm especially interested in LP journeys because that is what I'll probably be having, and I have a few ;-) comments. First, I've read your comments on your page and you haven't mentioned anything about exercising since May. We all know that's one of the Ten Commandments of WLS. I can tell you that personally the only way I can have consistent preop weight loss is if I do my walking program consistently. There's this wonderful book I bought on amazon.com - The Emotional First Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery by Cynthia Alexander - that I love. I has nothing to do with the physical aspects of WLS, but instead focuses on the emotional and mindset issues we have to deal with. In it she says that we need to do some form of exercises every day - no excuuses - for 5 minutes. If we don't feel like doing anymore after that it's fine; at least we've done some exercising. But usually people will do more because they're already up and going. I'm trying to stick to that. Second, I also noticed you have no goals posted on your site. The support on OH is amazing, but maybe setting your own goals will keep you accountable to yourself which is far more important (at least I've found) than anything anyone else can give me. Third, (I'm sorry!) you're cheating - a lot, with multiple postings of "I'll do better tomorrow" type of thing. Have you discussed this with your nutritionist? As you know the Lap-Band is a tool, not a cure against overeating. The slimes are your body's way of reminding you of this. I'm also wondering if you may be depressed. I'm well aware of the symptoms because I (a normallly "the glass is 1/2 full" person) became dangerously depressed after an illness 3 years ago became progressively worse and led to multiple complications that ultimately resulted in permant disability. You sound like me in many ways - maybe you could dicuss your feeling with your doctor, your psychiatris/psychologist (if your surgical group has one), or your pastor, priest, etc? I hope you can get things straightened out - you deserve success after getting through all the preop stuff - keep up the momentum you had then and try to remember why you decided to do this in the first place! Good luck, and let me know how things are going.

The comment made about walking is so true. I have 170 pounds to loose. I had the gastric sleeve on 9/28/07. I am down 35 pounds. I could not walk without a cane and severe pain before the surgery. Today, I CAN WALK WITH NO PAIN! Get involved in the cancer walks or heart society walks too. They are a bit challenging and so rewarding. I also belong to the YMCA, so you could always post a note at some type of place like that to start up a weight loss challenge. But my doctors told me from day one to walk, walk, walk and that is what I have been doing! Good luck to you!
