Question:
Has exercise made a real difference in your weight loss with the Lap Band??

I am 5 months post-op from lap band and have lost 29 pounds. I am grateful that I can fit into clothes I could not wear 2 summers ago. My weight lost has been sluggish. I have had 3 fills. I lead an extremely hectic life working full time, taking care of elderly parents and taking care of my own family. It's literally impossible for me to exercise on a consistent basis. Does consistent exercise play a real role in weight lost with the band? Any suggestions?    — JSing (posted on June 10, 2009)

Yes, it helps. I lost weight without doing a lot of exercise but I've notice that when I actually attempt to do exercise I lose rapidly. Also, I need to tone BAD!!!!! So if at all possible do some exercise I think it will save you

Hi! Wow! it sounds like you need to take time to yourself with all those demands you have. I found that at first I lost ell enough but not being satisfied with that I took up exersice in a regular fashion and that is when I saw the weight moving. Having said that, I bet you rarely get the chance to sit for very long so you are expending calories. Take care!

No. If you're eating and drinking the way that you should, the pounds should come right off. I started out at 249 in Nov 2008 and today, June 11, 2009, I'm at 165, all without exercising. I am unable to exercise, due to many herniated disks (L1-S1) and in my neck and upper back. I need to tone, but recently I've been using a new Avon toning wash, scrubber and lotion on my arms (where I'm most concerned about), thighs and abdomen, and it seems to be helping. The main thing that I need now is either breast implants or a lift. They look good in a push-up bra, but are gross when I'm in jammies.

Yes, I have noticed that when I put my all into exercising (at least 30 minutes a day) the weight does come off faster. You owe it to yourself to find some time to at least walk briskly for 30 minutes a day. Can you do this on your break time at work? I know how stressful it can be taking care of aging parents having done so myself but can also tell you from that experience to take a little time for yourself, find out what you can 'let go'. Perhaps the house won't be as tidy or laundry may sit a few days but you'll be oh so pleased to see that weight moving once your exercise and you'll feel better too. Good luck!

I am a year and 1/2 out and I have only just started exercising. I wish I had done more from the very beginning.
