Question:
Has anyone with myasthenia gravis had WLS?

Perhaps you haven't had any responses because nobody, like me, knows what "myasthenia gravis" is?!? Of course, if someone knew they wouldn't have to ask what that means...but, sometimes people don't know the medical term for it...Just a thought...ask a surgeon, they'd know for sure!

I don't know of anyone with myasthenia gravis and has had weight loss surgery....but then I only know one person with myasthenia gravis. I think that some of the treatments (especially meds that supress the immune system leave you at a greater risk for post-op infections) for MG might keep you from having surgery but I can't think of any reason why the disorder itself would prohibit it. I think you are more likely to get the info you are looking for if you find a site for people w/ MG and ask about wls there. I think there just aren't enough people with MG here to give you a good answer. Be well.
