Question:
I am almost one month post op RNY (October 27) and my weight loss has stopped.

I have not lost any weight since the 12th of November. I am eating right (1/4-1/2 cup of protein based food every 3-4hours) getting plenty of no calorie sugar free fluids and exerizing regularly. I feel good, I have dumped a three times since starting on soft foods on the 14th because of eating too fast but nothing has happened that makes me feel that this is the problem. Am I worring too much? Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks    — Pittysmama (posted on November 21, 2008)

Absoutely this is normal, please do not worry, its sounds like you are eating a good diet and driinking plenty of fluids so please know this is normal. I had my gastric bypass on 4-9-08 and at about week 5, I got stuck at a plateau for a couple of weeks. Do exactly what you are doing and I promise you will see results. It has been 7+ months and I am literally down 104lbs and feel better than I have in 30 years. Diet and exercise for sure. Good Luck!

I had my surgery 1 day after yours on 10/28 and I too have stalled. I think that it is normal. My surgeon said that the body is catching up to all that has happened (swelling, water retention etc.) I am walking everyday, eating the correct way and I haven't dumped, but I am at a stand still as well. I am hoping that I will start back losing quickly as well. Best of luck to you and I.

Hi Girls, I am 3 mos post op and believe me it will start up again. Just keep doing what you are doing. We all have a way to go, but we will make it. Hang in there.

I went on a plateau about week 5 and was stuck there for almost 7 weeks. But then all of a sudden the weight began to fall off. Just keep doing everything you're supposed to, and don't get discouraged. When your body is ready it will start showing the loss again. Good luck to you!

also, make sure you aren't dehydrated. I got dehydrated after 3 days and it took me 3 weeks to get rehydrated. I had no saliva or tears inthe a.m. ...I had to consume more than 64 oz to get back up to where I should have been. I hope this isn't the case..you absolutely won't lose if dehydrated. Best of luck! hugs, Kim

I had my surgery the same day as you and my weight stopped the same day as you, so I am in the same boat as you are right now. I had the sleeve. I hope this passes soon. Good luck to you.

I was stuck at 220 for three weeks. Got up this morning and now 217. Our bodies are just going to lose at the rate it wants to lose at, period. I will tell you that as we lose and get smaller, our bodies require less or different types of fuel. For me, it was reducing the protein shakes I was consuming instead of real food. Also, I was still using a small amount of butter in my diet, about three tablespoons a day. I cut that out. So be sure to be looking at ways to change things up a bit when you hit a plateau.

Mary...I'm sailing in the same boat as you. I am 4wk post-op and have only lost 14 pounds since surgery. I am very frustrated, but encouraged by what I read here. My major frustration is that my husband hand the same surgery 9/9/08 and is down 85 pounds (he was down 40 by 5 weeks post-op) + yes I know that guys lose faster than females....but it still is very frustrating for me
