Question:
Am I doing fine?

I'm too weeks post-op from a gastric bypass and I kind of dissapointed because at my first week I ended up losing 21 pounds and today I went to Publix to weight myself up and it looks like I only lost 2 more pounds this week. I'm strictly following my nutristionist's advises, however I feel so frustrated because I thought I was going to lose a lot more this week.    — cary031800 (posted on March 24, 2009)

Don't be discouraged! I had lost 24lbs in my first week post-op, and then only six more pounds in the two weeks after that! It will start soon, and when it does it will go rapidly for a while. Just keep doin' what you're doin' and do what the doctor tells you ... We all lose it in our own time, but remember - we all DO lose it! The slower the better, for your health in general and for your skin! Best wishes on your journey!

At first I was all about how many pounds did i loose this week...but after a while i noticed that my clothes were getting to big for me...Now (almost 1 year out)....I weigh myself once a week....But I am down from a size 22-24 to a size 10....So try and stay focused on your size instead of your weight...i know it is hard...trust me i have been there...Just keep on track and do what the Dr. tells you and it will come off....Good Luck with your loosing journey Elisa In Ohio

No worries, you are very early out and your body's in shock. Most people lose a lot, mostly water weight, in the first week of any diet. So you're bound to lose less in the weeks after. I lost 19 the first week, but now at week 7 I'm down 51 pounds and slowing moving things downward. Hope it works out great for you.

Hi ! I too was a slow loser..it isn't all bad. I reached goal in 9 months..which may seem long to many, but worked out well for me. I lost slower and was able to firm skin better than some...of course I worked out 3-4 days a week for an hour or more. I lost 2-3 lbs a week. I was discouraged at first, then as I saw results, felt better.I am very happy now. Best of luck to you and congrats ont he loss so far. hugs, Kim

You are losing faster than most! So relax! If it were any faster, you wouldn't hear people complaining all the time how slow it goes...What's really funny is in a year from now you are going to tell everyone how fast you melted! We all do! As it's happening though...it seems to drag on like a slow paced race...We are running a long distance marathon...not a 100 yard dash! Try to remember that to understand that it just takes some of us our own pace to finish that long race to the finish...There will be some that get there faster than others...and some that never make it across that line because of injury or they just were not able to do it physically (at least they tried!)...but most will cross that finish line (in about a year!) LOL Hope that helps!

I never weighed myself - I waited until I was at the doctor's office. That way I wasn't worried from one week to the next.
