Question:
Feeling dizzy and light headed
Hi I recently posted that I had revision to rny on 5/5/09. I came home from the hospital four days later. Was having a terrible time taking in any liquids. That has all improved and have been very thankful for everyone who replied. All your suggestions and encouragement really helped. I feel stronger each day. I am taking my liquids much easier now too. The reason I am on the site now is to ask why I am so dizzy and lightheaded? I have the pain under control. I'm drinking, eating my soups and puddings etc. I am taking vicodin for pain and also anti nausea medication too. My stomach is still pretty iffy so I need the nausea medicine. I have already lost 15 pounds in 5 days. Is all this causing the dizziness and lightheadedness or is something else wrong? I feel very weak. Thanks again for all your help. It gets better as you begin to get in more nutrition...but please stay in
contact with your surgeon and do not hesitate to go to the ER if you really
feel badly. Only a doc can tell you for sure is something is "really
wrong"...
You should be trying to get in as much protein as you can and sipping water
whenever you aren't eating! I could not tolerate the thick whey shakes and
did MUCH better once I started using Isopure No Carb clear whey in
bottles...It's SOOOO expensive, but one bottle at about $4 a day was 45 g's
of protein That I COULD tolerate and I sucked that down all day and ate the
rest in nibbles of real food! LOL I began feeling better and better
daily...I had a lot of energy after I began getting in the protein and the
isopure counts towards liquids too! But I felt weak the first weeks after
surgery as well...I was so excited about losing the weight so fast...I
barely remember the first days...I slept a lot that first week...It really
gets better...Good luck!

Each person is so different. My light headedness and dizziness was caused
by a couple things - first, low blood pressure! I had to go off my blood
pressure meds. Another thing that affected it was my diabetes meds - got
off them as well, and no more problems until I started upping the exercise.
Then I just had to be sure to eat some protein before and after exercise,
and that problem was solved too. Good luck!

I had and still have dizziness. My doctor sent me for testing. They did a
tilt table and some other things. It was determined that I was most likely
dehydrated. I now try to always get in as much fluid as I can and it is
better. I also notice that on days that I don't do well with getting in
the liquids I have more issues being dizzy. Check in with your doctor.
Always the best advice.
