Question:
I am almost 6 months post RNY. My surgery was Jan. 8, 2009. I have only lost 80 lbs
I also lost 13 lbs before the surgery. I went from a size 24-26 down to a 14, but I am stuck at 190. Will I lose anymore weight? I have been stuck here for almost a month, and can't seem to lose no matter what I try. — Lyndsay30 (posted on June 29, 2009)

Im 5 months out and ive lost 90 pounds...but Im having the same problem. My
doc's have assured me that its just a bump in the road...it does suck
though. Its been 2 weeks since I lost any weight and I feel like Im doing
something worng but I think its a normal thing to happen around 6 months.

Hey, I'm right with you! I had mine on Dec. 30th, 2008....and have lost 78
pounds. While I am wishing that I were one of those who'd dropped over a
hundred by now....I, also, realize that 80 pounds is no shabby weight loss,
at all. I'm sure we'll keep losing, provided we keep following doctors
orders and exercising. You're doing great. Hang in there! I am! lol
Good luck to you!

Don't be so hard on yourself, remember it didn't take 6 months to put all
the weight on. Also you can't always go by what the scales says either.
You might be losing inches and the only way to be sure is to measure
yourself. Inches won't show up as a lose, but you sure will tell by
measuring. Also, if you always eat the same thing, try to change it up a
little. This will trick your body and put it into overdrive, so it will
kick up the gears so to speak.

80 lbs. is nothing to sneeze at. That's doing great. Everybody loses at
different rate and we all have bumps in the road.

80 pounds is great, don't negate what you have already accomplished! I had
my RNY in Sept. 08, and have hit plateaus several times. Ironically, I'm
stuck at 190 right now, too. But, I know that I'll start dropping again
soon because that is how it happens. If you want to push it a bit, up your
exercise and fluid intake. That usually works for me. Congrats on the 80!

getting enough protein and u will push thru it...by the way...doesnt

I just had my 9 month checkup after Lap rny in Sept 08 and I am also stuck
at 80 pounds. However, the doctor says I am doing fabulous. I am only 2
pounds from "their" goal. Personally I want to lose another 30
and the doc says that I will continue to lose for another 9 months
approximately. I've started working out with a personal trainer in hopes
of dropping more weight. I've been at it for 6 weeks and have not seen
anything drop except inches. Doc says that it will probably drop all at
once and to not change anything. I do look and feel 110% better. I can't
complain. If I stayed at this weight it would not be bad. I look healthy.
Hubby tells me if I lose too much more I would look anorexic. So maybe
our bodies were not intended to be supermodel size. Oh well, I am not
giving up. 30 pounds here I come.

You may want to change your exercise routine. That is what worked for me.
I had my surgery in 2002 and have hit plateaus several times. Change is
what does it for me.

Thanks to everyone who responded. You all made me feel better. I will
start drinking more fluids. It is hard for me to drink regular water or
crystal lite. Makes me feel ill, but I will step up the fluid intake if
that means more weight will come off. Thanks again.

Our bodies are going thru major changes and weight loss. ALlow your body to
journey at its own pace. You dont want to rush things and then regret that
at the sacrifice of good nutrition! I just had my RNY 6/29 and would be
thrilled if i had lost 80-90 pounda b y 6mos postop? I thought that would
take about a year or so to do. Again, take care of yourself. !!!COngrats!
Youve done a wonderful job so far!

I am so happy to read that not everyone is down to goal at 6 months. I
feel like I am doing well. Since the beginning of 2009 I have lost 90
pounds, but only 80 since surgery on 01/26/2009. I feel like that is great
until I read about the people who have already got to goal. On the day of
surgery I weighed 327 pounds and now weigh 248. I feel great. DO not know
what size but think it is 16, because was able to wear size 18 at 270
pounds. Thanks for all of the encouragement.
