Are you eating protein? If not, that could be the culprit. You can't live on fluids forever, so try to switch over to less shakes, more food. Do you have a mealplan from your doctor?

Your fears are so legitamate. Try focusing on exercise or your daily routine rather than counting everything that you are and aren't eating. It helps to keep your eye on where your headed. This eleviates some of the stress that we put on ourselves to do everything the right way.

I am 16 mos out. I keep on hand low calorie, low sugar foods. I eat fruit, pretzels (I count them out) lite and lively yoguart (I find this one is the lowest in calories and sugar) Do make sure you are eating all your protein. I was told by my nutitionist that the protein will help curb your hunger. Can also find protein in almonds (count them out too). I weigh and measure all protein (chicken, tuna, etc.) Hope this helps. Best of luck

are you seperating your foods and fluids? drinking too close to a meal can cause you to be hungry faster. try some oatmeal, it sticks with me a long time and is good for you. are you getting in exercise? i am 5 mo out and just started exercising like i am supposed too- i notice now i am not as focused on eating because i exercise in place of it. it's kinda like it curves my appetite. good luck, you will be fine..hope this helps...Holly

Try to get yourself on a good meal schedule and plan each meal about three hours apart. Get your 3 basic meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Make those denser proteins...you can add veggie and whole grains too...NO drinking with meals or snacks.... For Snacks(in between meals) do your protein shake and lighter protein snacks like yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, peanut butter, beans, eggs, nuts and whole grains. If you still feel hungry in between those snacks...eat raw veggies and fruits for low calories, and only eat these extra snacks til hunger is satisfied... but not full. Otherwise you begin grazing...and that's when you have found a way to beat the purpose of your tool. Stay away from junk food and sugar (sweets that are not from nature, chips, pretzels, white bread, pasta, rice, potatoes) These foods will cause carb cravings and hunger pangs. Drink water inbetween it helps fill you when you are supposed to not be eating! Hope that helps

Try having a protein ball for snack between meals- they have 14 grams protein per ball . The balls are equal parts powdered milk, protein powder, peanut butter, rice krispies. Form balls roll in splenda for sweet taste if you like. very portable for snacks.

Melinda, head hunger is knawing at you. Hang in there. Warm drinks helped me, but everyong is different. Just because you think you are hungry, does not mean you are. Obese people are pros at always thinking they are hungry. You need to find a distraction, eat and drink right, like you are now, and exercise. Everything else will work itself out. As you get out farther, you do get a little more hungry, but 6 months is really too soon for that. It feels real, I do understand that, but it is not real, your head is playing games with you. And your head, Melinda, knows how to win. Take care. Patricia P.

You said... "I never eat three meals a day." Does this mean that you are eating more than three meals a day or that you are eating less than three meals a day? If you are eating less than three meals a day, that is probably why you are hungry. You will probably feel more satisfied/full longer if you are getting your protein from whole food rather than through a shake. When you eat protein (nuts, chicken, fish, beef, etc.), it takes awhile for your stomach/pouch to grind these things up and push them into your intestines... Protein shakes don't require much processing in your stomach/pouch--you drink it and then it runs right through your pouch into your intestines. A lot of WLS patients are told not to eat and drink at the same time... this is because fluids will cause the pouch to empty faster, meaning that you will get hungry faster... protein shakes aren't bad (provided they aren't full of sugar), but they aren't "real food." Good luck to you.
