Question:
WHAT CAN I DO!!!!!!

I had my surgery in Jan of 2007 i have lost 94 pounds i seem to be staying at the same weight for almost a month and i am freaking out? Do you think i am done losing already? They say the first year you will lose no matter what? What is going on?    — M. Moore (posted on September 4, 2007)

Doubt it...it's probably a plateau. You need to change your exercise routine. Do something totally different as your body has gotten used to what you are doing. Drink more water than you normally do, and make sure you get your protein in. Shock your body so it doesn't know what happened and will start back to losing. Good luck and God Bless!

There are short term plateaus and long term plateaus. This sounds like a long term one. Your body will kick back in - try to kick start and do a liquid diet and change your exercise routine. Long term plateaus happen when you body gets used to the food/exercise routine. Change it up and you should be able to get it started again.

You have a 6-month window they say which is the time to try and loose all the weight you can. After this time you slow down and sure it gradualy comes off, but you do something different and your body gets back on track. I am 4yrs out and have gained 63 pounds back to this day. NOT...I am back to eating how I am supposed to be and to get a good start I started back on my shakes, yogurt, cheese sticks, protein only and have lost 8lbs in alittle over a week. Now to get my butt back to the gym. Dr. Greene told my husband who is haivng the surgery in a few weeks to have me come back in for a revision.....NOT....I can get this weight back off. I could still loose a 100. I lost 200 in a year. Just remember the more you have to more you loose in that time window.

I don't know how much weight you have to lose totally but it sounds like your body is re-adjusting to the weight loss. Exercise is really key so if you are not doing any, start NOW. I know it's hard for overweight people to get into an exercise routine. I was successful in losing all my weight because I was always in pretty good physical shape with the small amount of exercise that I did. If you can afford it, get a personal trainer for a few sessions. Record your caloric and protein intake on fitday and meet with your nutritionist if you have one. You will continue losing and malabsorbing for at least another few months...take advantage of the time you have left. Good luck!

I did the same thing at 6 months but I went back to basics and kick started my exercise routine and started losing again.I dont know how much u have to loose or what type of surgery u had but with the RNY you have a 12-24 month window for your bigeest loss is what I was told I am out 20 months now and have lost 150 lbs still have about 35 to go and still lose 2-5 lbs a month so cant complain.I want my TT after 24 months so I will be working my butt off the next few months to get there.Good luck and dont stress.

you need to stay off the scales and quit obsessing. you are not done losing. At a yr, I had only lost 80 lbs, but now, at 16 mos, I hit the 100 lb mark. I stay off the scales and marvel at being able to wear smaller sizes. I'm sure that I'm not thru losing. Should go down another 30 lbs.

NO, I DON'T THINK YOU ARE DONE LOSING. YOUR BODY HAS HAD SUCH REMARKABLE CHANGES GOING ON IT JUST NEEDS A FEW WEEKS TO REGROUP. THE WEIGHT LOSS TAKES A LITTLE BREAK AND YOUR BODY LEVELS OUT. IT WILL START AGAIN, SO, CONTINUE YOUR NEW GOOD HABITS AND IT WILL PICK UP WHERE IT LEFT OFF. DON'T PANIC.
