Question:
Fatty liver after lapband

Hi there, it has been 6 years since I've had my lapband and lost weight. I have had a couple of set backs from it....such as gallbladder removal 2 months after and now I'm experiencing liver pain and most likely it's fatty liver...has anyone with the lapband experienced fattyliver after losing weight ? non the right absorbtion of protiens and maybe high cholesteral....? any thoughts at all would be greatly appreciated....    — alloff02 (posted on January 22, 2009)

I'm a more recent lapband patient (9/08), but my cholesteral has gone up since surgery, but my sugars are way down. I think, for me, it's because I'm focusing a lot on getting my protein first instead of making sure I have my veggies, etc. to go with it, so I'm trying not to focus soley on those proteins. You might want to see a doctor. If you truly have a fatty liver it probably isn't from weight loss. And is the pain in the area of your liver or is it just pain on that side? Perhaps see your nutritionist too. Sounds like you may be looking into several possibilities. Let us know what the doctor says. Good Luck and God Bless, vinnigirl, retired RN
