Question:
I need some help. Today I am 6 months out Lap RNY.

I need some help. Today I am 6 months out Lap RNY. I was doing really good until about 6 weeks ago. I was 296 lbs when I went into surgery and today I'm 215, but in the last 6 weeks I have only lost 6.5 lbs. I am doing everything the same but it doesn't seem to be working as well. What can I do? I really want to lose another 65 lbs and I'm afraid I won't be able to do it.    — amylbarron (posted on February 4, 2009)

First of all...take a deep breath and chill!! We have all been there girlie! Everything is gonna be okay! I think your body just needs some time to adjust. You are doing great! Just give it some time...and don't forget..you didn't gain it all this fast..so you can't lose it all that fast! You will get there..I promise! I felt the same way at one point in time, now I am wondering if I am going to stop!! You will do it!! Enjoy every day and the pounds will just fade away! Good luck!

I agree with Rachel. You are doing just wonderful. You had your surgery the same time I did and I am at the same place you are right now. I also had RNY. As a lifetime dieter, I can tell you, you are just in a plateau. If you want to jump start things though try increasing your exercise if possible, or vary it doing something different for a day here and there. You can push the water more, green tea seems to help. Otherwise just hang in there, and it will come. Be sure to that you are keep track of your calories each day as well. My doc has me at 1000-1200 per day right now with protein being my top priority of course. Good luck and I hope this helps a bit.

Weightloss will slow down... it is a fact. The important thing is that you are still losing. Focus on what you have accomplished so far. Also, keep in mind that not everyone that has weightloss surgery will reach goal. It is all about living a healthier lifestyle and better quality of life. Good luck.
