Question:
weight loss has stopped, very depressing, need helpand advice!!!

I had my surgery at the end of march 09 and since then have lost 19kgs, I have another 8 kgs to go, only 4 weeks ago I had to have a second surgery due to my band slipping, so at the moment I have no fill in my band, I have since the surgery tried to loose the weight in a healthy way lots of good food and plenty of exercise, but am failing miserably, I have'nt dropped any weight but have'nt put it back on either, and it is not from lack of trying. I am due for a fill next week and am a bit frightened to get filled up after my band slipping, don't want to experience that all over again (slippage was caused from vommiting) I only feel I am in control when I am really restricted and can hardly eat, feel really guilty if I eat, this problem is really doing my head in so if anyone out there has any magic answers please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.    — yummymummy2B (posted on November 25, 2009)

Big congrats for maintaining your weight while not being restricted. That's quite an accomplishment. You'll have your tool back when you get your fill next week, and will be back in control. Address with your physician how to avoid the vomiting, so you don't have slippage again. Give yourself big hugs; you've been through a lot with the slippage and another surgery.

You need people to people help (we all do), not just internet help. Find a support group and possibly a counselor. Get an accountability partner. Build up your support team. What you need to work on as much as healthy eating and exercise is healthy thinking/response patterns. Obsession with food is an addiction. No one can ignore an addiction and hope to get better. If you get your head right, everything else will improve. As you get your health right, your head will improve. It's gotta be a whole person effort. This journey from obesity will have natural ups and downs. It's been accomplished before; you can do it, too. Hang in there!
