Yolanda, I cannot personally help you, but I know of several post-ops that have had successful pregnancies after RNY. You can also go to www.spotlighthealth.com, mobid obesity and support groups, then surgical support, and pose your question. There are several on there that have had kids after RNY and are currently pregnant. Congrats!

Yolanda, I had surgery 4/10/01 and found out I was 5 months pregnant in December (which means I would have gotten pregnant around the first of August 01'). I had a healthy baby girl on 5/9/02. She weighed 7lbs 9ozs and was 19 3/4 inches long. I had a c-section and me and the baby had no complications. My starting weight was 380 and as of now I am at 185lbs. I weighed 260lbs when I gave birth. 1 week later I was at 225lbs. 6 weeks after that I was at 206lbs. I am still losing, but very slowly. You can e-mail me privately if you would like at [email protected].

I got pregnant at 8 months post op myself. I had lost about 100 pounds by then, 10lbs in the first trimester and gained back 6-8. I am 28 weeks pregnant, had 3 ultrasounds and the baby is fine, he is growing like a weed. I eat often, small meals of course. Good Luck with your tiny blessing.

First and foremost, you must get in contact with your surgeon/facility! I guess it would be a little intimidating to have to tell them that you did what they told you not to for a while, but your baby's health is at stake. You should talk to a nutritionist because you'll have to make some dietary changes during your pregnancy. I believe (and don't quote me on this) that your fat intake will need to be increased during the first 3-4 months of pregnancy to allow for healthy neurological development of your baby. Good luck to you! I'm sure you must be very excited!
