Question:
12 weeks, down 24 pounds. Any one else as slow as me???

Actually, I was down 24 pounds LAST month! Will this plateau ever end??    — Roberta M. (posted on October 14, 2004)

I lost so slowly that I would cry each time that I went to the doctor. I worked out at least 5 times a week, between 1 and 3 hours each time. I had WLS in February 2004 and I am down about 60 pounds. That seems like nothing compared to others that I have talked to online. But, I am diligent about proeiten and vitamins. I am a size 16 from a 28. I have not lost any hair and I look healty. But, I feel good inside and out. I wish you all the best. Email me if you would like to stay in touch and be encouraging to each other on our journey to being healthier. God bless, Loriann

I am a slow loser too. I was 36 lbs down at 12 weeks, but I'm almost 8 months out (2/25/04) and down only 30 more lbs than that at this point- at 185 (-66 lbs). I am getting to my discouraged point but it will break. I'm exercising, eating right and diligent about my vitamins (I did have about a 1 month slack when it was hurricane hell here where I live), but the scale stays. We just have to keep sticking with it, and hope the plateau breaks. Try to keep a positive attitude, it does help (which I need to remember!!!). Take care, and good luck- Shannon

You should not compare yourself to others. Remember everyone is different. I was on a plateau for 2 1/2 months and when it finally broke it broke with a vengance. The month after I lost 10 lbs, the second month after 14, and the third month after 26 lbs, and this month I am on a plateau again. I don't let it bother me. I keep eating right and working out. It is like my surgeon said, it is God's way of giving your body a rest. Also just some advise, I write down everything I eat and when I exercise. Sometimes it really helps, you think you are eating right until you go back and look at your food journal. I am 13 months post op and have found that I constantly have to tweak my food and how I eat. Good Luck!

With a quick glance of your profile, I'd say you may have to accept that you're going to lose slower. You started with a BMI close to 40, right? And you are over 50. It is metabolism. If you double your exercise and up your protein, water intake, it'll help, but maybe ust give yourself a break. You'll do fine. Tortoise and the Hare.

Your not is very vage. It doesn't say what your eating and exercise habits are. It is very important that you don't compare yourself with others. If you are doing EVERYTHING that you SHOULD be doing then why worry. Are you exercising? Are you eating (3 meals and 2 snacks)? Are you eating more carbs and exercising less?
