Question:
New Lapband on the market "REALIZE". Anybody else get it?
I had surgery 12/20/07. They came out with a new lapband called "realize", I think it is. Makes post op better and shorter! Anyone else get this? thanks... — Linda R. (posted on December 25, 2007)

Nope, but could have used a shorter and less painful post op! I was
surprised at how much it hurt afterwards. Oh well, it's all good now! Good

didn't know there was a new kind of lap band. I had surgery in august.
post op was fine, not much pain at all.

I asked my DR about it he said it is the same band just under a different
name. don'tknow if it is true or not.

My surgeon, Dr. Srikanth, is using a new band. I assume the band you are
talking about is the same one he is now using. The main difference between
the old and new is in the "balloon" part of the band. The
balloon (expandable part) goes all the way around the band rather than
stopping where the latch is. I do not have this band, though since I have
had my band for 5 years. Vicki

The balloon concept doesn't sound familiar. I did look it up online. I
don't think it went under a different name. It is supposedly flatter...Will
read up more and post it. Thanks for the responses

From what I have read it is just a different manufacturer with a different
name. The olther band had a baloon also. The band is a good choice for
some but I do have a good friend that has had problem with her band.
Surgica; cjpoces are hard to make. Personally I had the RNY so I could not
cheat with what I eat.

I had the "Realize "band surgery on 1/8/08. My Dr. is the only
one in NJ currently doing it and one of 25 in the country. It's been in
Europe for many years and was bought by Johnson & Johnson. I'm having a
relatively easy recovery...felt back to normal within a week
