Question:
Black & Blue Stomach?

I had 2oz of puree food last night. Then I vomited and now my stomach is black & blue and is very painful. Anyone have any ideas. Do I call the MD. I don't think it's that bad yet..    — MaryLisa D. (posted on February 26, 2003)

Absolutely call the MD. If your surgery was recent it's possible that the black and blue is caused by the heparin you may have received in the hospital. In any case, don't be afraid to call the doc.

Did you receive shots in the tummy (heparin, like the others mentioned)? I had them (didn't even feel them at the time) but when I got home I looked down and I was black and blue also. It may just be a coincidence that you vomited and then noticed the bruising. Do call the doc though.
