Question:
gained 40 lbs, post op 8 years, stomache stretched on bottom, does surgey help?

I am so frustrated and depressed..I almost wish it was my sutures not this. The doctors have said my food goes through my stomace too fast and doesn't stay in the little puch long enough to make me full. I have gained 40 lbs and am now back in my fat clothes. Most doctors said there is nothing to do, one doctor in Boston has said they can fix this but it is done endoscopically not laprscopiclly and may have to be repeated twice. I know that my insurance will not cover it, so I will be a self pay.The doctors call it an anatomical leak/stretch. I know I am sick of this, I constantly have gas and an upset stomace and I feel frustrated, I am hoping to hear from any one who's had the problem and what they have done. I am suppossed to go to Boston on Jan 9th, and I would like to know if i should do the procedure. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated...Thank you so much...Vivi    — vivi S. It is a very simple procedure called an endocope wiht sclero banding. There is no actual band involved, however its a scar tissue promoting liquid that the surgeon injects into the stoma to promote the growth of scar tissue. Most people do need it repeated at least once. I have had it done twice and it works! I work for my surgeon and book these often and never have I seen an insurance company deny the claim. Before you assume that you would be self pay, check it out with your surgeon. Total time at the hospital is about 3 hrs. You would need someone to pick you up because you will not be allowed to drive home because the endoscope is done under sedation. Any other questions, please feel free to email me. Jessica
