Which surgery did you have? How was it done? Is it possible you have mechanical failure? What was your post-op regimen like......foods to eat, avoid, supplementation, timing, spacing of meals, water.......?

Dear Nataly........ I can understand your upset. You have surgery (RNY your profile says) to CONTROL APPETITE --- but it doesn't. ...... It is all too common for bypass surgeries to fail in this regard as the pouch may be small, but the outlet not restrictive enough or not at all......... And then the gut (intestines) adapt and change, so more nutrition is absorbed. ....... And/Or the patient "eats around" and defeats the surgical construction by consuming too many liquid or soupy/mushy calories, or too densely caloric. ......... BUT BUT BUT in SOME Canadian provinces (and I believe you live in one of them), Laproscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding (LapBand) surgery will be paid for (tho you have to purchase the actual Inamed device. ....... Such surgical revisions of failed RNYs are being done with great success. ........ Of course, if your eating is all wrong, then even lots of restriction will never defeat ice cream, milk shakes, fruit juices and such. ..... You need to evaluate yourself and decide how you want to proceed. If your eating is not optimum, then you will have to decide if you want to be healthy badly enough to change what you put in your mouth. ....... GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS.

Have you been seeing your surgen for regular follow-up? I cannot imagine a surgeon wouldn't do extensive testing to find out why you only lost 40 lbs. Please call your surgeon!!! Something is wrong!

Nataly~ Are you eating your protein first..fish, chicken, steak? I had the MGB over two years ago(-125-130lbs) when my weight loss started to slow down after the first 90lbs.. I upped my protein. I would eat lunch meat for breakfast sometimes even. Try upping that.. cheese, cottage cheese anything with protein.. stay away from carbs.. I absolutely have to stay away from a lot of breads and pasta.. even though my new pouch holds 4oz... i fill it with important foods.. eggs is a great source of protein as well. I hope this helps you and that your weight loss will start up again. DS
