Question:
Why haven't I lost any weight in 4 days??

I had the gastric bypass 3 weeks ago, and I lost 30lbs in 2 weeks but for 4 days now..I gained a lb back and I've been at that same weight. I'm eating very little and I'm doing the exercise bike 20 minutes a day. What should I do?? Why haven't I at least lost a lb?    — flyerschik77 (posted on December 19, 2006)

You are doing great! Don't worry about not losing at the moment. It will start again; just think how much you have lost in such a short period of time. Your body has to have time to adjust. I am proud of you and never give up! Laural HW-313/SW-278/P-156/Goal-155

I did the same thing at 3 and 4 weeks. I am now 3.5 mos post op and have lost 66 lbs! sometimes I may go several days without any loss, and then boom 4 to 5 lbs gone. no need to worry, it has no choice but to come off. the body holds on when it thinks it is being starved. good luck and good job!!

Your are not alone, this is the way it is. Just think when was the last time you lost 30lbs in 2 weeks. Your body is adjusting. Take you measurements so that when you aren't losing you will see inches melt away. I am 4+months and have lost 45lbs so I am losing slower than you but I have lost 30inches all over. Most in my waist 8 inches. Also I am hoping that losing slower will mean that I won't have to have my gallbladder out.

The scale is your enemy. Don't go on it more than once a week. The weight you lose in the first 1-2 weeks is water weight...after that the actual fat comes off. You are sabotoging yourself if you weigh more than once a week.

I lost my weight by simultaneously dieting and exercise. I only lost 1/2 to 1 lb a week. After I took off my weight, I went to school to become a personal trainer to help people with their struggle. Don't be so impatient. Loosing it slowly, but steadily is healthier, and you'll have less sagging skin to deal with. Focus on HEALTHY eating, PORTION CONTOL, and EXERCISE. I lost 30 lbs a year, not in a month. Spend the money on a personal trainer so you won't have to spend it on plastic surgery. I assure you, you'll love yourself better for it.

Hi your doing great! This is how I was explained. You loose weight so fast. now your body has to catch up. I'm 9 months out now, I'm still like that.

I think you are doing fine. Try not to weigh yourself everyday-that will just end up depressing you. Try weighing only once a week. I had my bypass January 30, 2006 and have lost about 160 lbs. I feel great but lost fast and now have alot of hanging flab. I had a tummy tuck with no trouble to speak of. But now I have to worry about my legs and arms. Remember slow is good and exercise. cassie-missouri
