Question:
3 wks out, my abdomen is still swollen is this normal?

LAP RNY - 25 days out ... When I have lost weight in the past my abdomen usually shows the first signs, not this time. I am still very swollen and hard. I do not have any gas or anything like that, I have normal bm"s... just wondering if this is normal and how long it takes to go away also is there anything I can do to help it ...Thanks to everyone who answers    — gigi_c (posted on July 28, 2008)

Hi Gigi....well...if i remember correctly..I was sore for quite awhile...but did you call your surgeon's nurse and ask her or your surgeon why you are still really sore and what to do to relieve the soreness....they would know best....sorry I can't be of much help...but I'll pray for you...ok...? I'll bet you are still swollen. Have you tried using a heating pad?

I had surgery on July 1st and am starting my 5 week out from the same surgery. My stomach finally started going down the 4th week. So, if you're like me, you have one more week. Good luck.....Magdalena

I'm 4 years out and I can always tell when I have just eaten because my belly gets big for a while til the food is digested. As far as lumps and harness...that took a little longer...I had a weird hard bulge that eventually just went away...I have no idea what it was...or where it went... Eventually you learn what is new normal and what is not right...It takes so time...but you will have a doc appointment soon and you can always ask if it still bothers you then...More often than not...the weird things go away... Hop you feel bettter soon

You just had MAJOR surgery. If after another week, ask the dr. If red and hot at incisions, if weird discharge than what Dr. told you - call them. I found that every time I lost weight or gained back - the older I got, it came or lost in different places than usual. Good luck!
