Question:
Wrinkels Anyone?

I'm 9 mo. Post Op... I went from 291 down to 149....Iv lost 142 lbs total.... I have not took measurements in forever may just do that soon... My question is ....Iv lost so much that the muscle is gone and the skin is wrinkled and hangs on my upper legs and in my butt.... I have no butt now... My stomach hangs also...All my weight was in my stomach and that's where I still need to lose...what have you done to tighten up this wrinkly skin ?....And how to tone up the muscle? ...Iv been told the skin elasticity is gone forever... broken down ...and can never be fixed with exercise... I'm 45 yrs old....I know I cant look like a Million Bucks... But Id like to look like a few hundred any ways lol~.... Anyone else facing this delima? .... I have not got to walk or exercise much due to Tons of health problems and complications along the 9 months of this journey....Thanks for any feed back... Flo    — Flo (posted on December 30, 2005)

I have the same issue... and to my knowledge nothing will help. Excercise will help tone the muscles underneath, but.... that only goes so far. So, start on what you can (arm and butt excercises!!) and pray for that money tree - I am!! Kris Victoria BC Canada www.krisjourney.cjb.net RNY Nov 8, 2004 - 5'5" 308/159/145

Flo, I lost quickly to, I'm 41 years old and the skin isn't a pretty sight. I do need to begin working out again...I've been slacking... I've lost 24 lbs of muscle (not good) I struggle with enough protein....but when I force myself to workout, especialy with hand and leg weights I do see more muscle definition that makes the lose skin not look quiet so bad. Being obese all my life as really taken a toll on the skin *sigh*, looks like I won't avoid plastics. Anyway.....even with the skin I feel much better than I did last year at this time and I think I look good, clothes are a miracle worker, lol. Dana

went from 313 to 195 in 6 months and bottomed at 179 underweight, honestly looked like I was dying. My WLS was july 2001, it took about a year and stabilzed weight just under 200 but my appearance improved a lot I will be 49 in january 2006 less than a month away:( So try not to fret too much everyones skin recovers at least a little. such a fast loss as yours:) Takes time to adjust! Yeah no butt cushion here either, I cant sit on unpadded seats

Wait until you are close to your goal weight. Check with your insurance company. Some companies will pay for some plastic surgeries. I too have some saggy baggy skin. I have had a tummy tuck(insurance paid) and a breast lift. I did pay for the breast lift out of pocket. Start saving because it is well worth it! Good luck!

To make you feel better you could make an appointment with a plastic surgeon whos is specialize in skin lifting. Usualy the first consultation is free. He will informe you on what he can do and what to expect from plastic surgery. I think by having some informations about skin repair and knowing there is a way to repair the damage you will feel better and you'll know there is hope to look great like 100000 bucks after major weight loss.

Most of us require plastic surgery to fix the loose skin! I have my weight in the same area!
