Question:
I have several things going on.....

a slight weight gain, few lbs, then I lose.... I feel like I have not used this tool well, i'm 6 months out tomorrow. I have lost only 70 lbs, lots of inches, but I think that I can eat more now, and I feel like i'm doing this all wrong? Is there anyway for me to start over again, and start losing?    — 1gr8auntie (posted on May 7, 2008)

You're doing great! I know we want more and faster but it's okay. There's a good chance you CAN eat more. What my friends have told me is that they just start going back to eating smaller portions and it seems to go back to what we should be doing. I dunno if that's truly the case but I do know that when I feel like I've added too many carbs back in, I try to remember the 2 bites protein to 1 bite veggie "rule of thumb". And just going back to basics. The protein/veggies. Of course I don't follow it hard core but I should. Also the water. Water, water, water. Lately, I've been trying to drink a .5 liter of water before each big meal (waiting a half hour to eat, of course). It helps me get my water in. Hope this helps. Mari

70 pounds in 6 months? Seems awesome to me. "Seems" like I lost slowly also . I am 1 year out now and down 100 pounds. I think EVERYone thinks it is going too slow, not loosing enough, etc; 70 pounds in 6 months is awesome. It WILL come off. I lost about 10 pounds a month, sometimes more at the beginning, then less after 6 months, but now a year later I am at goal. It WILL come off! Really! :0D What exactly do you think you are doing wrong? Some days I feel like, man, I ate too much, then the next day I've dropped 2 pounds. Are you actually eating enough? Some people try to eat too little and their bodies hold onto weight in fear of death. You do have to eat & get your fluids & vitamins in to actually loose weight. I can't think of anything you would be doing wrong unless you are eating a lot of carbs; carbs go down nice and easy and can be very dangerous for us for that reason (post RNY). You can eat a lot of them and not get that full feeling. You also may not dump since some of them are not simple sugars. I know for me popcorn goes down easy. However, I don't have the "cravings" for foods like I did before RNY. Praise the Lord! I DO have "head hunger" which is maybe what you are feeling? I feel like I want to eat, but I am not really hungry. (I lot of the time that means I actually need some water.) I'm just cracking up that you said "only" 70 pounds in 6 months. Sounds just like my weight loss rate. :0D I think u r doing AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! (my word of the day I think! )

Stacee, i hear you. I am 8 months post RNY and i've lost 83lbs. However, I have been at a plateau since March. I too feel like I can eat so much more now and it scares me. Keep thinking I've done something wrong. If this is all I lose I am thankful and very happy, however, I'd really like to lose 50 more lbs and hit my goal. I guess sometimes it helps to just know others are having the same issues. Best of luck to you :)
