Question:
Long Term Plateaus

I know I saw others that hit long term plateaus and I would like to hear from them...My wt loss is going really slow, I've lost 50 lbs since surgery on Dec 18. I haven't lost but 5-7 lbs in the last month and a half. If anyone else had this problem in the past I'd like to hear from them to see if it continued this slowly, or got better. Thanks!    — mbanks (posted on March 28, 2001)

I am not post-op, I just read everything on site. Every time I have read about slowing down or plateaus the writer has had to increase exersize or add more regular water intake and then the plateau ends. It seems every now and then you need to kick start the metabolism again. You tell your metabolism who is boss now! Show it how to burn again. :) Good luck to you.

Plateaus can be very disencouraging. I'm at one as I type this response. I will have to increase my water intake and increase my physical activity. You have to do something different. You might have to increase your protein and decrease carbs. Hang in there. Don't compare your weight loss to others. We are unique. remember that.
