Question:
Help...I think Ive stopped losing weight.

I am 5 months post op (gastric bypass). I am down 75lbs. But it seems as if Ive stopped losing weight. I feel like I eat too much, but I know Im not. I hear the myth about eating 5 times a day is it really suppose to be that many? What am I suppose to be eating, and is this weight loss normal should it be more? What should I do?    — msjackson84 (posted on July 22, 2008)

Hi, you didn't mention how far you had left or how long you have been plateaued...but I had a similar experience in the same time frame and weight loss - I hit a 7 week plateau....then it took about two weeks after that to lose another 13 lbs, then another plateau.....depending on how much more you have to lose, your body could just be slowing down because you are close to your goal - or slowing just to catch up with itself....as long as you know in your heart, mind and soul you are eating right, excercising and doing every you should be doing, then just be patient with yourself...you will be moving down again....if you can't say that you are doing all the things mentioned above, then get back on the horse and keep trotting, we all have temporary set backs.....good luck!

Hi, I'm six months out, RNY. During the last month I've bounced all over! Got down to the goal I had set for myself and went right back up, as much as nine pounds! Then down, up-down, up-down. Finally came down to goal weight for real and then lost another eight pounds overnight! For real! Here's the deal....Drink your water, do the protein, exercise and watch what you eat. I do a least two SOUTH BEACH bars a day. 19 Gm of protien and no sugar and they taste good. If you're like me, it's getting easier to eat...anything! Be careful, remember why and what put you and I here...FOOD. Be of good cheer my friend, you're not in this alone! Read a self help book for a few minutes a day. I read THE SECRET. It helps, a lot. My post name is moterman. And yes it is mispelled. I need to update...but? Check it out and enjoy the ride. Look how far you've come. We're all proud of your accomplishments!...Bob Flick

I had my RNY on March 3, that's almost 5 months. I've been stuck on 75lbs down now for 2 weeks. I thought I was never going to get past 65 lbs down. I was stuck on that for 3 weeks, and then all of a sudden it was 70 down and then 75 all with in a week and a half. It does get frustrating, so I try not to weigh myself more than once a week. Just think what you've done. In five months you've lost 75 lbs. That's an average of 15 lbs a month. Did you ever do that before surgery? I didn't? I know it was a lot more at first, but you were bound to slow down. With the amount of food we're allowed to eat, we are going to loose more. We just have to be patient. It will come off. With all the other responses, it sounds like we're right on tract. Paula B
