Question:
What dosage of B12 do most of you postops take, I am pre-op till July 11th?

I am just wondering about the B12, as I have bought a bottle at 100mcg. Is it important to take B12 prior to surgery too? I already take a B-complex vit. now. Any advice would be appreciated.    — Carol D. (posted on June 2, 2002)

Is it sublingual or swallow? If it's swallow, may as well eat 'em up before surgery, as they are useless after. Probably the single most critical PILL you will take is calcium citrate. Read the labels carefully. HOW MANY pills is a serving? What is the calcium to magnesium ratio and does it contain vitamin D3? The Bcomplex is nice, but should be a good smattering of the B family in your multi vite. If you stick with something like Centrum (even generic), you'll be getting the broad range of vites/minerals, and only need to beef up in the basic 8 elements RNY malabsorb. Make the next bottle of B12 sublingual form.

I take 500mcg sublingual, every night. I've only had one set of labs done, as I am only 3.5 months, so I don't even know if it matters that much yet, but everything was in order. Oh, I feel absolutely fabulous too - I hear the B12 may have something to do with that.
