Question:
i've started vomiting and dont know how to stop it

I had my Lap RNY on 01/09/2006. a very uneventful recovery. Went back to work on 02/01/2006 and felt great. I had no pain post-op. no nausea or vomiting. Followed the diet as doctor prescribed. All of a sudden I throw up everything that I was eating with no problem. I'm still on soft food until next week but I can't seem to keep anything down at night. I haven't been able to get enough protein down, maybe 25gms. For the last 3 days everything seems to want to come back. I'm eating the same foods that I have been for the last 10 days. Does this happen to others. I have an appointment with the Doctor in April but am calling him tomorrow because I'm afraid this wont pass quickly enough. I drink plenty of water and during the day it doesn't bother me but for some reason after 4pm my system goes haywire. any info or similiar experiences?    — pondgirl (posted on February 7, 2006)

Please dont wait till tomorrow to call the doctor- you may have developed a stricture, and need to be scoped- the opening to your new pouch may have closed a little, and that may be the reason you can't keep anything down. Its a simple procedure to correct, but unless you get a handle on it, you may become dehydrated, and I know you don't want this to happen. Call the surgeon NOW and good luck Cindi -218#

I know how you feel. I was almost 6 weeks out and I did the same thing. I was in and out of the hospital. My Dr. found out the hole to drain my tummy was closed. I had to go into the hospital and have it dilated. All is good now. And as for your protein I found something called Protica one tube is 25g of protein. I have two a day taste good and easy to keep down. Good luck and God bless.

I completely understand you situation. Read my profile- I had lots of ups and downs with that. Still having some challenges but you do need to agressively follow-up with your surgeon. Hope all goes well.
