Hi Cari, I'm in the exact same situation. I am 19 days post op and from about day 12 I could eat just the same things and amount as before the surgery. Plus I'm just as hungry all the time. It's making me really fearful that this surgery isn't going to work for me. I am scheduled for my first fill on April 29th and I can't wait. I so want to not feel hungry and to be able to forget about food once and for all. Thanks

It is probably because they do not initially put a lot of fluid in the band. After a couple of fills, you will definitely be able to tell a difference. Good Luck!

I had my lap band Jan 08. My surgeon never puts any fluid in the bands until the first fill. He says your stomach needs time to heal and adjust before adding fluid. I was the same way. I could eat whatever and felt no different until I had my first fill. I actually have yet to get my band at the right place. Either its too tight and I throw up all the time or too loose and I can eat too much. :O( I have lost 50lbs and have 80 more to get to my goal. I guess slow weight loss is better, but I want it gone tomorrow. LOL Anyway, good luck.

Hi Cari, I had my lap band on April 1st, and will have my first fill May 5th. Like you I think I could eat anything, but I have chosen to use this time to practice eating as I should according to my diet and surgery book. Don't get me wrong, it's not easy as I am hungry, but I am eating alot of protein, writing down all I eat. And using the tips in my diet manual to help me. Like chewing my food until it is pasty, (even though I don't need to yet) using diet fudge cycles, and popcycles, I eat alot of different types of beans and yogarts. I have lost 12 lbs so far and continue to make baby steps as I want to be able to use my tool well once I get a fill. Good luck on your journey. Carolyn
