Question:
nervous and excited

so finally sfter two months of jumping hoops with my insurance company my revison from lapband to rny is fianlly approved. I was sooo excited at first but I will have to admit I am very nervous. If there is anyone out there that has the revision that I'm about to experience please give any advice that you have.    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on September 26, 2010)

Good Luck to you! I didn't have the revision but had RNY 2 weeks ago! I'm 24lbs down! Can't even believe it! I was so nervous, and really felt like I was kinda wing'n it! lol! You will do great!

I didn't have the exact revision as you but 10 years ago I was revised from an open VBG to an open RNY and I have never once regretted that decision. I was pretty terrified going into both surgeries because I had a horrible time painwise after the VBG and I was told how much harder the revision to RNY would be. Imagine my surprise to wake up in ICU feeling SO MUCH BETTER after the RNY!! I don't know if there was a problem with the pain pump after my first surgery or what but after RNY the pain was much better controlled. Having a surgeon very experienced with revisions helped tremendously too. I was also told to expect to lose weight slower the second time around but that didn't hold true either. I lost at about the same rate with both surgeries. I can honestly say that if it were necessary and I had another mechanical failure, I would have a third surgery. I hope this helps you and anyone else about to have a revision to know that just because in general they might be more challenging and involved that you will automatically have a harder time getting through it. We are all different. I wish you all the best with your revision and the next chapter of your WLS journey.
