Question:
Ins. Requirements for Tummy Tuck
Hey All ~ I'm ready for my abdomnioplasty finally (7 yrs post op), and I'll be dealing with Blue Cross Community Blue (no pre existing conditions for my group, thankfully). Has anyone dealt with them at all for tummy tuck or any other reconstructive stuff? My dr office friend said something about panni having to hang so far over pubic line. This may be a bit of an overshare, but my pubic area is as droopy as my belly (an issue I hope to resolve with the procedure ;) ), so I don't see how that could apply...or WILL it? I have BCBS empire and according to mine we just have to have documentation
about sores and rashes that the skin rubbing has caused. We have to take
pictures anytime I get a rash or a sore and usually have to go see a Dr. so
he can document it. Good Luck!

I have BC/BS Federal and like Amy I had to document ever skin lesion/rash
etc. anything to do with hygiene. My doctor was also very understanding
and helped me out. One thing that I noticed after my surgery was that the
pubic mound is a bit pronounced. Make sure to discuss this with your
doctor. It's not bad but I notice it. I've never heard of the belly hang
length thing though so can't address that. Good luck!

Try going to the company and website and searching for the preautherization
form. It should state exactly what the qualification are. Generally that is
the form the doctor has to fill out and send in. If yours doesn't have is I
know that www.priorityhealth.com does and that should give you some idea.
I had my consult a couple weeks ago and the doctor said she thought the
insurance company would pay. I definitely feel your pain! After loosing
almost 200lbs in 17 months being naked is a scary thing LOL. Good luck!!
