Question:
Post Op Trouble With IV Sight, Need Advice

I am 6 days post op and during my stay i had 3 iv's in the left arm and 2 in the right. they just would'nt stay put or something would be wrong with it. well my left arm is soooo sore from my thumb to my shoulder, it is hot and maybe a little swollen. if i put any pressure on it it feels like my veins are going to explode. i have been runing a low grade fever day three after surgery.any suggestions would be apprieciated. thanks.    — TIFFANY R. Call your doctor! A fever is not normal! In the meantime a warm moist compress on your arm may make it feel better. Not too hot, and not more than 20 minutes at a time. And CALL YOUR DOCTOR!

This sounds like a blood clot. CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATLY or go to your local emergency room.

Yes, Tiffany, call your doctor NOW! It sounds like phlebitis (a blood clot with inflammation) or possible cellulitis
