Question:
Protein Bullet

I was told about somethiing called the "Protein Bullet" by another person preparing for bariatric surgery. Where can I find this? It is a liquid supplement that provides the full amount of protein needed in liquid form (small pouch the size of a bullet to add to your daily intake) instead of powder. My search didn't find it! Please advise and thanks!    — mudalice (posted on June 2, 2007)

http://store.bariatriceating.com/conewwhlipr.html but they don't contain the full amount of protein you need each day. They only have 42 grams. You need between 70-80 grams protein each day. I don't take these, as until today didn't find any at a reasonable price. Just googled "protein bullet" and found some at bariatriceating....Good luck!

Caution is needed in ordering during the warm/hot summer months. Heat can effect the product. I live in AZ,and will have to wait to get them off the web, until it cools down a bit...

A lot of people use the product "NewWhey" They are 3 oz vials of protein in a liquid/jello consistency. They, however, DO NOT provide full amount of protein needed. They provide 21-42g and you need more than that.

I purchase the protein bullets from the Vitamin Shoppe store or their website. Each 3oz. bullet contains 42g of protein. The cost is $2.99 each or $29.99 for a case of 12.

We were told by the nutritionist at St. Joseph East in Lex KY that Unjury, a company who makes protein supplements did tests on the protein bullets and your body only absorbs about 6% of the 42 grams of protein.

If you get the 42 g of protein New Whey bullets, then only drink half in the morning and half in the afternoon, that way your body can absorb the 42 g. I personally love the grape

At a support group meeting our nutritionist spoke about these protein bullets and urged us not to buy them. They are not nutrionally sound and are overpriced. The company refused to answer her questions and she had another company analyze these protein shots and f ound them to be inferior.

The nutritionist I am seeing in regards to my upcoming lap band surgery on 6/18 - recommened these. They come in orange, fruit punch and grape. They can be bought from bariatriceating.com or nasuanutrition. I have order somre for both for my surgery. The people in the support groups recommended them as well. The whole "new Whey bullet" comes in 3 oz and you can drink it or combine it with water if it is too thick to get thru your band, It is like a thick gelatin. Mine just came today. I have ordered from both places. Nasua nurtition had more flavors availablw.

These are good way to help you get in your daily protein. They come in 20gm or 42gm bottles. If you get the 42gm bottle, only drink half at a time. Your body can only absorb around 30gm of protein at once. This is 30gm per hour or so. The bullets are very, very sweet, but if you're only drinking half of the 42gm it's only 1.5 oz to get down. I usually get it down in about 4-5 sips. I don't have one every day, just when I need help getting to my protein goal. Good luck!

You can buy 24 for $51.00 at www.fitnessfirstusa.com or if you want to try all 3 flavors you can buy a combo 12 pk for $30.95 at www.fitrx.com To me, it was worth the extra buck for the combo. Happy Tasting! ^_^ Cherry

I bought a 12 pack grape flavor Any Whey brand at bariatriceating.com, but I really did not like it. They are extremely sweet. It like drinking sugar kool-aid with very little water. I have been trying to drink them any way, because I do not want to waste my money. I have been putting it in my grape-flavored water. It is very thick. and I have to continually stir it. Good luck

New Whey is the newest of this type product with 42 grams of Protein. But the orriginal product which is still available but with 25 grams of Protein is PROFECT by Protica http://profect.com/ Remember one thing though that our bodies will only consume 30 grams of Protein every Two Hours and just Dumps the Excess.

i strongly suggest you buy only one or two of these first to try them out. the hospital i work at has these and gives them to pt's needing protein supplements and the dietician let me have one to try. it was NASTY (my opinion)! i tried the cherry and to me it tasted like a very sweet and concentrated cough syrup. i also tried to mix it in fruit punch flavored water and just couldn't stomache it. good luck, holly

I have seen them at a local store specializing in bariatric products. I have never tried them. They look like test tubes in different colors / flavors. The store has a website, they will also answer questions by phone. www.c2linfo.com The store is called Choose 2 Loose. Good luck to you!

I buy mine on line from www.bariatriceating.com. I love the fruit punch the best. They come in two different protein gram amounts. I am pre-op, so bought the lesser grams. I have to keep my bodybuilding son out of them though asthey are pricey. To me it will be worth every cent since they are so easy to get down.

Try www.vitaminshoppe.com to see if there is a location near you -- you can also order from them online. The one I go to in Maryland have a lot of customers who are now bariatric patients.
