Interesting question - I'm wondering why you asked because I can't picture how that could be done. At first I thought you meant at the same time, but the only info on your OH site is that you're planning a revision. So, do you mean you've already had one surgery and are now considering another? Now I'm curious!

If you have a lot of weight to loose lapband is normally not the best . I had lapband in aug 2005, in April 1, 2008 i had the band removed and RNY done. RNY is so much better than the band. This is my personal experience and opinion so please do not bash me for what i say. I was stuck at least 2 times each fill or unfill, there were so many of then that i felt like a diabetic ( a pin cushion) . I lost from 270 to 202 in over 2 years, then my band slipped and i gained weight , take into consideration, that everything i put into my mouth i puked up for 6 months. the only thing i did not puke was chips. While having the band i puked almost every day at least one time, sometimes it was 3 times a day. I never ate or drank before 2 pm, because i could not get anything down, so i had a good fill, not too tight where i was sliming at night.... I could go on all day here but i had rny 4 weeks ago today, i lost about 25 lbs, nothing this week so far so in 3 weeks i lost that but having a sta ll now. I have NEVER puked, no pains, no soreness coming from the hospital. This surgery was faster recover for me than the band, i was camping within 3 days of surgery. no problems at all. i drink, take protein, and eat. no problems. I FEEL GREAT. i never felt this great whith the band!!! This is all just my experience, but i will tell you, i wasted over 2 years of my weight loss time by being sacared to re route my intestinges....boy was i stupid, i should be at goal now and not starting all over at 271 ( yes one lb more than when the band was placed) .... BEst of luck to you in whatever you decide. But dont let someone with complications scare you ...Face it , more people speak up when a problem then when no problems. It is just like you will hear someone fussing at a restaurant who is dissatified, but have you ever heard someone raising their voice because the food is JUST SO GOOD!!!!! lol I am raising my voice to say how great the RNY is vs the band!!! JMHO!!! Terri

I had a VB 19 years ago and then in Sept 06 I had the lapband with in 1 month I had lost almost nothing and could eat anything I realized that I had made a big mistake and sought a revision of the lapband and my insurance once again approved me! I had the RNY in Dec. 06 and have lost 89 lbs and look and feel great. The RNY in my opinion is a far better surgery for me and with my overeating habits and my love of sweets it was the right surgery for me. It still is a tool and have found that I must stick to NOT grazing or you will GAIN weight.

There is a procedure that is called the Lap RNY that can be done. Most often it is a revision that occurs when a Gastric Bypass patient discovers that they have stretched out their pouch. Why someone would shose this option as opposed to the many other options that are available as a revision I do not know. That would be something that you would have to take up with your surgeon. There is another option available that specifically addresses that for Gastric Bypass patients. It is new and requires no cutting. It is called stomaphyX. You can find out more about it here:

Sorry, I hit the post answer button by accident then had my computer lock up when I tried to recover from the mistake. The site for the StomaphyX information can be found at: http://www.stopobesityforlife.com/StomaphyX.html . Check it out. Do some research to find out if there is a surgeon that does the procedure near you.
