I had an RNY on 10/01/08 and have lost 18 pounds - but the first few days I had gained a couple of pounds from the IV's and liquid I wasdrinking - I was upset until I found out why.

Hi Patty, I had a lap band on Sept. 11, 08 and have lost 25 lbs. since then. I have a feeling it will slow down now, but the surgery is a big help. Good luck with everything!! -Barbara W. [aka, Oakroom]

I think it depends on what "you" think is significant AND how much you need to lose. If someone only needs to lose 100 lbs and they lose 50...They are already half way done...But someone who needs to lose 200+ and loses 50 is still significantly heavy...So it really depends on what you weigh and how one feels once they lose weight. I lost 158 lbs almost 5 years ago with RNY and have kept off 150 of that weight all these years. It took me about 15 months to lose. I thought I was done losing at one year, but continued losing very slowly til it totally stopped at about 15 mos. The few months were my significant weight loss months that dwindled, gradually down each month from about 40 lbs a month down to 1-2 lbs a month...The first 6 months are significant weight loss months!

I think it just really varies. I have had so many complications and have lost 41lbs in 6 weeks. nut I think everyone one is so different. Just talk with your doctor and make sure you are healthy and losing. Good luck!
