As an ICU nurse, I have taken care of many patients after bowel surgery. Each time the gut is accessed surgically there is an increased danger of leaks during the op and post op,infection, blood clots etc. The difference might be that bowel surgery for a diseased gut is very different from healthy tissue. The tissue is much more fragile and more leak etc. If your first surgery has simply failed without a consequential infection or damage to tissues, you are probably in a better situation! Don't mean to scare you. E-mail me direct for a better chat. Cheers!
