Question:
Do you continue to lose after 9 months or is it over?

I am 9 months post op and have not lost any weight in about two months now. I am 5' 6" and started at 250 lbs. Yesterday marked my 9 months and I have lost 71 lbs. To me I feel that I should be much further along. I am not complaining but I am very frustrated. After all, it is 71 lbs less than when I started out which I am thankful for. I have consistantly hit a three week plateau every month since month two. I get in plenty of protein and water and I walk/job for approx 1-1.5 hours 3-4x a week. I am just really scared that this is it and I'm not going to lose any more weight. I never wanted to be a super model but I was hoping to get down to 150 lbs. Will it happen in time or is this the end for me? Thank you in advance for any help or words of wisdom you can supply.    — THE NEW M. (posted on July 23, 2003)

Hi, I'm almost 11 months postop and have lost 102 lbs, but I started at 300 lbs. I think you will continue to lose. During my 9th month, I didn't lose anything either. I thought it was all over pretty much, but then I started losing again. I actually increased my food some, but I think it was just a body re-adjustment thing. I'll be a year out on 08/15. Don't get discouraged. It will happen. I have been a really slow loser compared to a lot of people and I still have hopes of reaching 150 or 160. It may take me 2 years but I'll get there. You will too! Good luck! Keep plugging away and doing the right things. Melisa RNY 08/15/02 - 102 lbs

You can absolutely keep losing. I am 16-1/2 months out and lost 8lbs. between months 15 and 16. I also started out as a "lightweight." To date, I have lost l25 lbs.
