Brenda, I can't stress enough that you ask him about the ups and downs of the surgery and not only that, but ask him alot of questions about the sucess's he's seen with HIS other paitents. Ask him if there is a possibility of you being able to talk to some of them to get their imput on what your about to do. Alot of people I've seen are worried about what to ask the doctor but make sure you've asked yourself all the questions, for example "How much do I really like to eat?" The doctor will only be able to answer questions about the surgery, paitents will be able to answer questions about the surgery and what you'll most likely go through long afterwards. Good luck, Karyn

Soon after my RNY, I developed a list of questions to ask a prospective surgeon; it is posted at http://steverevere.tripod.com . Remember, the weight loss process is only partially due to the surgery-- for months and years following the operation, there is a significant amount of personal work that has to be done in avoiding some common pitfalls and in addressing the emotional ties that food once played in your life. As a result, be certain that your surgeon has an after-care program that is well-suited to you. Good luck.

There are so many questions you need to ask. You need to know what your surgery is going to be likeand what the recouperation will be. You need to ask questions of your diet before and after surgery. Most of all after he has examined you ask him if the surgery is right for you.
