Completely normal. Over the next year or so your weight loss will at times, speed up, slow down, stop, start back up..... Don't be alarmed, as it will happen more than once. Try not to weigh yourself as often. Pick the scale up and stick it in the closet if you have to. Try weighing yourself once a week on the same day each week. Don't worry, I went through all of those same fears and worries too. I am 9 months post op and am currently at 103 pounds lost. I am hoping to lose another 40. I remember when I was about 3 months post op I had a Plateau occur where I did not lose weight for weeks - I was convinced the surgery "wasn't working" and thought the surgeon had merely opened me up and closed me back up without changing anything, LOL! People here at OH.com offered me reassurance, and they were right....the weight loss started back up again. Even now, 9 months out, my weight loss STILL speeds up, slows down, stops for a week, starts back up, and sometimes I'll even gain back 2 pounds, but in the long run, the trend is weight loss - my weight continues..... Don't worry, you'll be fine, and the weight loss will start up again..... Congratulations by the way! Gina Abdalla

it is normal...but make sure you are getting in the amount of fluids you are suppose to...I got dehydrated and didn't lose for 3 weeks! Took me that long to get rehydrated. You should be shooting for an average of 64 oz of fluids. Also make sure you are getting your 6 tsp , 3 x a day. not enough calories and your body will hold onto everything it can. Just eat like your nutritionist said to and you will be fine! hugs, Kim

Hi Ericka, Congrats on the 31llbs gone!! Great job! I went thru this, and I even kept calling the doc, and told them that the surgery didn't work. they reassured me that my body has to catch up, and to be patient. At, times it might of been over 2 weeks, I thought that I was doomed. Just because the scale isn't moving doesn't mean that you aren't loosing. (that's wha the doc told me) With all said, I have been at a stand still for about 2 weeks myself! Take Care and Good Luck! Lisa

Good job on the 31!! It's pretty normal that the body goes through periods of hanging onto the weight. It's confused about what's going on. Don't try and starve yourself either. That will keep you from loosing. Continue whatever you were doing to drop the 31, and your body will start loosing again. Keep your protein up, and your metabolism will be forced to go the fat stores to burn for energy. Good luck!!! -Darlene

Normal, Start looking at how your measurements have changed. Start looking at the things that you can do that you couldn't do before or couldn't do before comfortably. It will change your mine. Maybe stay away from the scale for a week. Your doing great. Sincerely, Corina C

You are doing great!!!! What is happening is VERY normal. As was recommended, stay off the scale and check your measurements. I think you are in for a very pleasant surprise. Congratulations on your successes so far!! Zola

I am 6 weeks past my surgery, too. I have lost 27 pounds and I too get worried that my weight isn't coming off fast enough. I weigh everyday. I seem to be losing about 2 pounds a week at the most. I do have a hard time getting liquids in. I've been drinking 32 oz. of liquid a day which I know isn't enough. I eat very little - 4-5 1/2 cup meals a day. I exercise on the eliptical and bike 30-40 minutes 4 days a week. I am very tired after working all day. (I teach 6 year olds) I tend to wear down around 4pm every day. My energy level is a low right now. I have 70 pounds to still lose. I have gone from a size 16 wide to a regular size 16. People say they can see weight loss in my face and legs. I have lost inches which keeps me going. I have this fear that I will always be heavy - maybe it's because I always have been heavy. I really want this to work. I will try and be patient and get more water in. Hang in there! Linda
