What kind of surgery did you have? Are you still on liquids?

If you've had RNY, then most likely you aren't going to actually feel hunger pains for quite a long time. If you even suspect that you are full, the wise thing is to go ahead and stop eating. Good luck!

If you had RNY, you won't feel hunger pains yet. Actually, I'm 3 months post op and I still have yet to actually feel hunger pains. Good luck!

I had the same thing. They are hunger pains and will go away in a say or two. I had them also for about a week or so. And if you feel full or think you are full stop, or you will have pain for about a half hour. Good Luck from Westchester, NY

I am 16 months post RNY and I still haven't felt any hunger.. What surgery did you have? Also you should not be eating yet..So just keep the liquids going and you should be fine.

If you had Lap-Band surgery, the surgeons generally don't add fluid to your band until 3-6 week out. Most people feel full simply due to swelling that takes place after the surgery. I've know a couple who were hungry at about their pre-surgery level almost immediately. Each person is different. Just eat only when hungry, eat slowly (use a timer between bites if necessary- it takes our brains about 20 min. to register that we are full), take small bites, don't drink for 30-60 min. after your meal (so you don't wash the food through and thus become hungry again sooner), and get 2 qts. of water throughout the day. Your surgeon will make sure you feel full, just be patient until your next check-up when you'll likely get your first "fill". Be sure to let him know what's been going on. Also, find a Weight Loss Surgery Support Group to join. You'll be surprised how nice it is to be around others who are going through the same things as you, understand and support you, and you'll get a lot of good information over time, as well as somewhere to get answers to your questions.
