Question:
HOW LONG BEFORE THIS SORE FEEELING IN MY STOMACH WILL
GO AWAY IT EVEN HURTS WHEN I TRY TO LAY ON MY SIDE. — TRACY D. (posted on September 27, 2001)

Hi Tracy:
I am 4 weeks post op. I had an RNY and a hernia repair which has left an
incision from my breastbone to my belly button. It hurt alot to lay on my
side or back or anything for about 2 weeks. Then, quite dramatically got
much better each day. A friend of mine suggested that I get a long body
pillow. What a comfort that was and still is. There are still days where
my insides (not incision) hurt. I can lay on my side and wrap my legs
around a body pillow. The body pillow will help to give your stomach
support. I also kept paper surgical tape on my incision (still do) as I
was told it would help to reduce scarring. The food problem does get
better. I bought those instant cup a soups with chicken and beef broth
(made lunch easier). I personally stayed away from cream soups and
puddings but did find I could handle the 1% milk. Good Luck. Email me
directly if you feel like you want to talk.
