Hi Patricia,
I used to have problems with "charlie horses", and leg pains, my
Dr. told me it was low potassium, she told me to eat a banana everyday, I
haven't had them since I started doing that. Hope it helps, Jen

I have terrible leg pain. Doctor's blame my knee arthritis, referred pain.
But I think it has to do with my weight and hormones. I used to have
charlie horses at night when I was younger. Potassium never helped me.
Calcium was my ticket to quelch them. Drink milk. I'm pre-surgery and
hoping the leg pain goes away. Also think restless leg syndrome may be
involved.

I also have extreme leg pain after surgery. I am almost 1 1/2 years out. My
leg pain isn't the "charlie horse" type though. My leg pain is
all up and down the legs and in both at the same time. Sometimes it feels
like someone is poking me with an ice pick or something similar. I have
had all tests done and my potassium level is great so it's not caused by
that. Please feel free to email me privately if you would like to chat
about this. My email is [email protected]. I wish you the very best!
Good luck! Destrie

When I was a pre op this lady from my home church who had the surgery told
me that if my legs ever started hurting that it was probly my B-12 vitamin
(not getting enough in) so, I take a B-12 everyday. They melt in your mouth
and they come fruit flavored. You can get them at wal-mart. ~Melissa

Just my 2 cents on taking potassium supplements- please don't unless your
doctor prescribes them and does blood tests- the normal range for serum
potassium is very narrow and if you take in too much potassium it can be
just as bad if not worse than too little. Potassium which is in foods
naturally is fine- you would have a hard time over doing it there but the
supplements without supervision you could cause yourself heart problems.
