Question:
New greek yogurt

Hi everybody, I just tried this new fat free Chobani greek yogurt and I just wanted to share with all of you how good it is. It's creamier and thicker then regular yogurt and comes in a variety of flavors. For 6 ounces its like 100-150 calories, 0 grams of fat and 14-18 grams of protein depending on the flavor. It's sooo good. Check it out at www.chobani.com. It's a great way for people to get in that protein. Good luck to everyone! Jeannie    — jjeanniespets1 (posted on May 1, 2008)

I live in TX and we can't get it here, I haven't been able to find any yogurt with more than 5 grams of protein in it, makes me want to move, LOL

I haven't seen that one...But thanks for sharing...Here's my favorite greek yogurt "Fage" pronounced fa-yeh! (http://www.fageusa.com/0_yogurt_info.html) 1 Cup has 120 cals...zero fat....and 20 grams of protein! It tastes like sour cream and I use is at a veggie dip mixed with a little spice...or add pureed fruit or SF jams and my own sweetener...I used it on tacos, pork tenderloin...I mix horseradish and dill for a steak dipping tiger dill sauce (like at the outback steak house) I dip barbeque flavored soy crisps in it for a high portein chips and dip...The uses are endless! Greek yogurt is the BEST! I'll have to look for your brand and compare prices! Thanks for sharing

I just checked out the website and this stuff looks yummy and does appear to have a lot of protein. However, it has a lot of carbs- 20 gms per serving. I am a LapBand pt. and am supposed to stay below 30 gms of carbs per day. I like Snack & Slim pudding- 2 gms carbs and 20 gms protein per serving. Comes in chocolate and vanilla cupcake flavors- yummo.

Yikes! The flavored ones have 20 carbs and about 20 sugars each! I think for most of us, that's too much! The plain would be okay, though.

I checked the website and they add sugar to the yogurt; it has about 19-20 grams of sugar per serving, which is wayyyyyyyyyyy to much for me. Sounds like a nice yogurt but the sugar is too much; won't be buying it...

Thats waaaaay too many calories for a cup of yogurt. Yogurt passes right through and leaves you hungry again very quickly. My dietician warns against yogurt and says if really have to eat it, never eat ones that have more than 60 calories. Those 150 calories you could be getting from food that will stick with you.

I had my RNY at Centennial in Nashville, TN. My physician and nutritionist there recommended Kroger's Carb Master yogart. A six ounce container has 80 calories, 4 g carbs, and 3 g sugar and 12 g protein. I have never like yogart but this actually tastes good and very inexpensive. I have it for breakfast every morning and add a low fat string cheese for additional protein.
