I really don't know the answer to your question but why don't you ask your doctor why you've plateaued before you go in for another major surgery? You may need to simply pump up you exercise, cut more carbs or drink more water. Good luck

I don't know this personally to be true, but I believe it is possible. I've heard it's called BOB for Band Over Bypass. Good luck to you.

Why would you want a band after a bypass...your stomach should already be at its smallest?? that just sound dangerous to me.

I am not a doctor but I know your body can/will stall at previous weights in the memory of your body. Just up your protein, water and exercise and you should get going again on your weight loss. Having the band over GBP sounds dangerous to me.

You need to ask you doctor that but if you can't maintain your weightloss after a RNY then I doubt your doctor would do it and your insurance would pay for it.

Keep in mind that the weight loss surgery of any kind is only a tool. Are you saying that you have started to gain weight or you can lose anymore weight. We all plateau at some point. If you can't get steady with the GB, then how would the lapband be any different? If you are gaining weight, altering your stomach again won't fix that. You really need to sit and reflect on what you eat, how much can you consume, and have you slowed down on being active? If you can't lose anymore weight but aren't at your goal weight, again look at your menu. Since I really don't know if dr would do lapband after GB, but first reflect, then speak to your dr. Remember, it is only a tool. Drink water and keep up the protein. Best wishes to you.

I am not a Dr., I believe you need to really take an honest mental inventory of your food intake and behaviors. The LapBand is not the answer to solve your problem. Maybe you need some blood work specially to see your Vit D, B level etc....Make sure you take all of your vitamins, you eat your small meals properly specially your protein intake which should be between 60 to 100 mg per day. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask again. I wish you a best of luck in your journey.

I'm thinking you do not want the lapband. I had it for two years and it was a constant fill and unfill. It slipped and had to be removed. I was in the hospital 6 days. 30 pounds back on after only five months. I'm sorry. Just my opinion.

YES It is possible. I rec'd the GB in May '06 - I lost a lot but plateaued out and stretched my pouch. And thus started to gain weight. But then added the Banding. And go in regularly for tightening. This was the plan from the day I met my surgeon as I had and still have quite a bit of weight to lose. Insurance covered completely both operations.

I had gastric bypass in 2001, and then in 2009 added the realize band. I had slowly began to gain wait, and avoided the dr because I thought I had failed. Come to find out the surgery had tried to "heal" itself and was not due to my failure. The band has been a lifesaver. I am back to goal and feeling wonderful. I have maintained apts with the dr and now go 2x a year just to touch base and make sure all is still well.
