Question:
Nissen Fundoplication

This month I'll be 13 years post op and for over 3 years I've been on meds for a terrible case of GERD. My pre op tests showed that I had acid reflux and I have a hiatal hernia that has grown over time. I recently had a consultation with a doctor who's recommending fundoplication surgery as a cure. However, I just did my research and the complications are frightening the heck out of me. I can't imagine not being able to vomit, burp and swallow. And to boot, the GERD may return (after all that) and the surgery is not reversible. Have any RNY post ops had this surgery and how has it been for you so far? Thanks for reading my question; I look forward to your feedback.    — dandjon (posted on August 15, 2014)

Have you considered getting a second opinion? With the recommendation of the Nissen Fundoplication, I'd want a second opinion. If you haven't already, post this on the RNY message board so other RNY post-ops can add their experiences and thoughts. www.obesityhelp.com/forums/rny
