Question:
Problems with acne

Since my surgery I've noticed that I am getting large pimples on my jaw line and neck. My face is clear as well as the rest of my body. At first I thought is was from sweat from exercising but I thouroughly was my neck and face. not sure what is causing this.    — Alana A. (posted on May 21, 2008)

I went through kind of the same thing. I had hairs that would develop little infections called folliculitis because of my hormones. I ended up going to my Dermatologist and had hair removal/reduction by IPL and that took care of that problem. At the base of these pimples, is there a hair in each one? Either way, I would encourage you to make an appointment with the Dermatologist. Good luck, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

I went thru that around my second and third month out. I just assumed it was all the toxins coming out from years of improper eating. I switched to bare essentials make-up instead of the cream types and now I am all clear. Also, as you have probably heard drinking alot of water will help your complexion. Good luck to ya. Your body is still recovering. It has undergone a tremendous change and a lot of stress. Those are familiar to me. 4 yrs out and mine has cleared completely.

I am not a medical expert but I would have to agree with the first poster. It is most likely do to hormonal issues. Losing weight can cause changes in your endocrine system and change the way the hormones work. You are probably still putting out as much estrogen as you used to when you were bigger but you don't need as much as you did before so your body reacts to it in the same way that a teenager's would. It is like a second puberty almost. ;-) It should take a little while for things to settle down. In the mean time you may need to use some sort of acne cream to keep things under control. You may want to speak with a dermatologist and get their professional advice. Just my two cents for what it is worth (not much at that), Hugh
